This is a common way to help creative professionals visually communicate a concept. licensing art is also a convenient option for those looking for an image without having to sacrifice quality or time and while staying on budget.

Most illustrations are rights managed by the artist. Illustration sizes very in resolution, which can be suitable for web, annual reports, brochures, newsletters, magazines, newspapers, books, calendars, greeting card, stationary, posters, magnets, stickers, packaging, TV-film, displays, logos and many other products.

Rights managed illustrations may be preferable for those who are opting for more exclusivity of image use. Once you find an artist that you like and seems like a good prospect, go see the art in person. Ask gallery owners who they think would be a good investment and interview the artists you are interested in. Credentials are a major part of your investment so ask plenty of questions. A good investment would be in a piece of art or an artist that appears to be moving into bigger and bigger shows with more clout. Another do your own research on the net! You would be surprised just how much information you can get just by googling someone’s name.

Determine its worth. A piece of art that has already gone up in value because of demand is a good investment but be sure not to pay too much for something just because you are told that it will be worth even more in the future. Make the decision for yourself. Does it appear to be worth the amount of money you will be paying or is the mark up higher because of the gallery it's being shown in?

If your not buying directly from the artist them self, be sure to verify authenticity before you buy anything. See the piece yourself. Try not to buy a work of art site unseen because you might be getting a fake. Inspect the piece to make sure it truly is a piece by a particular artist and not a fabricated piece. Take the piece to a reputable dealer or appraiser for further verification.

Buy something you truly like. The trick to investing in art is to buy something you would be happy displaying in your home or business because even if it doesn't appreciate over time the intrinsic value of the piece is still there. If you purchase a piece just because it's supposedly a good investment you're missing the entire point of investing in art.

Spend only as much as you can afford. Art is an investment that increases in value over time. Occasionally something will jump because the demand for the artist is so great, but for most pieces of art the time it takes for the art to become worth the investment can be years. Only spend as much as you can afford right now and don't pay more for something just because you think it will make more money for you later.

Keep original frames and documents of any artwork. Replace a missing frame according to its period.

*Insure art investments that already have value with your insurance agent.Fairy Tale Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10498258172198582201noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838026305294556895.post-36992881731453424772009-04-15T09:27:00.000-07:002010-11-22T23:24:42.993-08:00CommissionsFirst and foremost I'm a Fantasy "Fairytale" Landscape Impressionists Artist. My subjects are Fairytale like Landscapes. Please familiarize yourself with my style before contacting me - I mostly accept commissions that are done in the style of my original work. Commissions can vary from Murals to book and magazine covers. The fee is based on size! $15-25 per square inch! I require 50% of the total up front to cover material costs and as a deposit. I always email a scan of the finished work, and make as many revisions as necessary before the final payment is due. 100% client satisfaction is my ultimate goal. I am a full-time Free Lance artist, and at any given time I am usually working on commissioned projects. Typically there is a 2 week "waiting list". Please be sure to contact me with plenty of time in advance of any deadline since I do occasionally have a waiting list (particularly around holidays). From conception to shipping I can usually finish a piece within a week, depending on size and level of detail. Please feel free to email me with your request! Note: although commissions are custom, I still own the copy rights to the Paintings!

unfinished painting

finish paintingFairy Tale Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10498258172198582201noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838026305294556895.post-60287892247786103092009-04-15T09:23:00.000-07:002009-04-15T09:26:39.054-07:00What Is Watercolor Paper, and there textures?<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 131px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHplshJURzLZaA4doBXfh9CjbyToTb1ghuZ0U2VbChovUVHw1W6Y98NfhBjuBh4_G3gWkbyJMj1IkzHrSWf9YlMWDjCPg2mXUPJXA8zeuGlmWNU8z14k_s26mkMHlQrqQCtJQ3reE_fUsJ/s320/Watercolor-Misc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324955373475343730" />
Watercolor paper is produced in various weights from 90 lb. (light-weight Thin) to 300 lb. (very heavy-weight Thick). This refers to the weight of 144 sheets, not a single sheet. Heavy-weight papers will not need stretching or taping down when painting, no matter how wet you paint.

Most watercolor papers are pre-treated with sizing when they are in the pulp stage. Sizing of paper is similar to gesso on canvas, as it makes the surface less absorbent. This can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your preference.

There are three different surface textures of watercolor paper available: hot-press, cold-press and rough. This texture is determined by how the sheet is flattened during the manufacturing process. Cold-press is the most popular finish for watercolor paper, but many artists also prefer rough paper as it makes texturing relatively easy, and, oddly enough it is easier to do a smooth wash on most rough papers.

I personally prefer (cold press) it’s not too smooth or to rough. I find that with smooth surfaces it can be difficult to layer paint, while with the rough it’s next to imposable to have fine detail.

The photo on top is your visual guide to the surface textures in watercolor paperFairy Tale Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10498258172198582201noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838026305294556895.post-75200650566748495612009-04-14T23:45:00.000-07:002009-04-14T23:49:35.432-07:00Tips On How To Preserve Your Paintings<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZIxV4GAxAhX0G7ADxaGiVX0m97FdO53cJi1u72hVzOwA3gkhMG23UtqGwhyphenhyphenhv7_URzRxw1-RyGtZ_3mR2RRDeke7h_UblHSw-B3OmHiNYsp6A6QOdHUyPb1739PQ5VmkpSe9vaRXUOZhN/s200/cleaning+painting.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324806574026467890" />

Light, temperature and air pollution can wreck works of art. How do museums protect and preserve artistic and historic artifacts for the ages? It's a complicated field, including everything from studying the chemical makeup of paints to optimizing the temperature, humidity and lighting conditions in all museums.

Here are some very important tips to make any painting last forever!

Make sure the painting you are buying is varnished! I personally varnish my paintings after consulting With the Client. Some prefer High gloss while others only matte. I leave it up to the buyer.

Select the room where the painting is going to be hanged or framed.

Select a room with proper lighting 200 lux.

Make sure that the room has a stable temperature that is neither too hot nor too humid.

During summer months, keep the rooms ambient temperature 70-75°F, and a relative humidity of 45-55%.

During winter months, keep the rooms ambient temperature 65-70°F and a relative humidity of 40%-45%.

Hang paintings away from direct sunlight, bright overhead lights, fireplaces and smoke.

Whenever you need to take down a painting from the wall for cleaning, handle it by the frame without touching the painted surface. Always wash your hands before handling any painting as fluid from your hands can damage the surface.

Regularly dust the painting with soft brushes (I prefer sable brushes)

Just like our sunglasses and face and body lotions almost everything is moving to UV protection! If possible invest in UV protecting glass both for picture frames and widows! Remember this won’t only benefit your painting it will benefit everything in your home, including yourself!

*When ever doing any harsh spring cleaning or home construction be sure to toss a cotton sheet over your investments. (remember wait for the dust to settle)

I know for some of you these tasks may seem a little extreme. In most cases they are! However, You have been warned. :-)Fairy Tale Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10498258172198582201noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838026305294556895.post-65419470354316887022009-04-14T23:02:00.000-07:002009-04-14T23:07:40.086-07:00Value of ART<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 137px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFPduwsWqND2VUh5DIrRpQ6YbKm7TmaUr_JzIOxfJltYG2YhXzzRzSQJemu9wsJ0ZkdzXm9Pc2FjfENNSYPPiC1Ftb8XloFR8juikMJypfwiXRHe9EKA6hhtkg1Loh88qwieLfQhMyd7NM/s320/Export+Wizard-1+-+Copy.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324795871254581314" />
Most collectors will tell you that pricing art has more to do with the artist than the piece, at least when it comes to setting the initial price point. But then the question becomes whether the piece is typical of the artist's work. Both questions are a matter of taste.

Fortunately, when it comes to finding a hot artist, you can look to the market trend. If you go to art shows and auctions, and you begin to hear one name more and more often, it's likely that that artist is trending up. Finding the right piece, knowing when to buy and when to sell, are all things that the seasoned investor learns over time.

However if you ask me, I'll say the true value of art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. A great painting to me has many elements that must come together, composition, light, color, depth, and finally a message. These elements are not easy at best to perfect, therefore it is for our enjoyment and amazement; to admire and value as being important. It takes a lot of skill to make art, it encourages creativity in people. Art is an expression. Art is similar to writing a novel, you need to be skilled in your trade and passionate and willing to put a lot of effort into it. Art challenges our normal way of thinking. One might think the whole world is about politics and religion, I beg to differ. One can see art in anything. One can act upon that feeling and paint a picture, or one can ignore the art and just see it in their mind. Art is going the extra step and expressing your feelings in a way that no paper on words could write, no prayer to God can explain, just pure art on a simple canvas. Thank you God for art.Fairy Tale Arthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10498258172198582201noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5838026305294556895.post-706414798884064042009-04-10T20:14:00.000-07:002009-04-14T22:34:33.366-07:00Magical Talents, Fantasy Art Community And Market.
